| Jamie Stephen, MSc Managing Director
Jamie Stephen is at the forefront of the Canadian bioenergy industry with expertise in bioenergy conversion technology, feedstock assessment, and policy analysis.
He has managed national and provincial strategic initiatives in bioenergy and biofuels for the Government of Canada, including a national dialogue catalyzing industry growth,
and has consulted for the International Energy Agency (IEA). Jamie’s deep working knowledge of bioenergy feedstock supply, conversion and utility systems combined with his project
development skills most recently resulted in Torchlight preparing a biopower techno-economic assessment and obtaining a Feed-In-Tariff power purchase contract for a large private landowner
(100,000 ac) in Ontario. Jamie has conducted detailed bioenergy research and reporting for the BIOCAP Canada Foundation, BC Bioenergy Network and other governmental agencies.
His background in chemical and biological engineering (UBC M.Sc) combined with his applied PhD research on second generation transportation biofuels from forests (UBC) gives him a
uniquely strong foundation for the analyses and assessment of resource-based bioenergy opportunities in agriculture, forestry, and wastes. He has a strong publication record on technology
investment prioritization, feedstock supply risk, and bioenergy industry development, and has travelled extensively in North America, Europe, and India investigating existing and emerging
bioenergy technologies. |
