Algae-based biofuels have received significant attention in the past few years due to reduced
or eliminated land and input requirements compared to terrestrial biofuels. Examples include
macroalgae grown on specially-designed in-sea platforms and micro-algae grown in ponds or photobioreactors.
As with the push towards algae-based biofuels in the 1980’s, commercialization has been difficult. TorchLight
specialists draw upon their research and development experience with algae to identify the best opportunities,
in both the short and long-term.
